Apple's March 2015 "Spring Forward" Apple Watch Event

On March 9 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, Apple will hold a media event at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center. The company is expected to provide more details about its Apple Watch, which goes on sale in April. Fast Company's Harry McCracken will report live from the event, with color commentary by other Fast Company editors.

Apple Watch:
  • APPLE WATCH SPECS: You can receive calls on an Apple Watch and read, flag, and delete emails. iOS 8.2 will feature a Watch app and a store for Watch apps. 18 hours of use on a (magnetic) charge. The sport edition with rubber straps starts at $349. The stainless steel Watch will start at $549 for the 38mm model (corrected) and $599 for the 42mm model. The 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition will cost $10,000! Ships April 24 (pre-order starts April 10). Read more here!
  • THE 12-INCH MACBOOK: It only weighs 2 lbs. Antennae built right into the metal enclosure. Retina display packs over 3 million pixels into the thinnest Mac Retina display yet. Edge-to-edge keyboard is far more accurate, and thinner. Taptic feedback tech (from the Apple Watch) in the trackpad. Fanless. Tiny logic board. Channel power or data via USB-C. You can get it in silver, space gray, or gold--just like an iPhone. Starting price: $1,299. Ships April 10. Read more here!

  • MACBOOK AIR: Getting faster Intel chips and Thunderbolt processors.

  • 13" MACBOOK PRO: It gets a new trackpad and a better battery life.
Medical Research:
  • RESEARCHKIT: Apple announces a software framework developed specifically for medical research. It transforms the iPhone, Apple Watch, and HealthKit into research tools for scientists. Privacy paranoids, don't worry: It's opt-in, and Apple says it won't see your private health data. And good news for developers: it's going to be open source. Read more here!
Apple TV:
  • HBO NOW: Apple is the exclusive partner. Take that, Roku. $14.99 a month. It'll be available in time for Game of Thrones. Read more here!

  • PRICE DROP: Apple TV is getting a little more affordable. The cost of a device is dropping to $69 from $99.
