June 18 Amazon Event In Seattle

Rumors that Amazon is readying its own smartphone to take on Apple and Samsung have swirled for years. With an Amazon launch event on the horizon, it appears the ecommerce giant might be ready to take the wraps off this mythical device. Join Fast Company's Alice Truong in Seattle on June 18 for live coverage of Amazon's event, kicking off at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.

Today, as anticipated, Amazon pulled the curtains off its first crack at mobile: The Fire Phone.

The 4.7-inch device is engineered to make it sublimely easy for users to purchase more stuff from Amazon.com. Its most notable feature, Firefly, allows users to snap a photo of real-world objects in order to buy it just by pressing a button.

Fast Company's Alice Truong is in Seattle for live coverage of Wednesday's Amazon event, which you can read through below.
